Jeanette Herman, Ph.D.

Jeanette Herman is the Assistant Dean for Academic Initiatives in the Undergraduate College (UC) at the University of Texas at Austin. As part of her role, she directs the Bridging Disciplines Programs, a set of college-bridging certificate programs for undergraduates, and the Center for the Skills and Experience Flags, which coordinates part of the general education for all undergraduates at UT Austin. She also works with the Office of Undergraduate Research and other initiatives focusing on cross-college academic programming for undergraduates, and she has taught courses on feminist research methods, South Asian women writers, and women’s popular genres, among other topics. Before joining UGS in 2006, Jeanette was the editor for UT Austin’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies, where she managed three series of scholarly monographs and literary translations. She received her Ph.D. in English from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004, with research focusing on images of suffering bodies in colonial and postcolonial political contexts.
Meaghan Anderson Forbis, M.A.

Meaghan has a B.A. in political science and gender studies from the University of Oregon and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Their graduate work focused on critical race theory and queer of color critique; their M.A. portfolio was an examination of settler-colonial moves to innocence via the adoption of Indigenous narratives. Meaghan has worked as an academic and financial aid advisor, a curriculum designer, an instructor, a higher ed policy writer, an educational equity organizer, and more. In their current role at UT, Meaghan facilitates the core and flag curriculum requirement petition processes for students and advisors.
Taylor Love

Taylor Love received their B.A. in religious studies from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. They have worked in and around higher education administration for most of their professional career. Their previous work in higher education includes project management specifically focused on departmental efficiency and student success.
Evangeleen Pattison, Ph.D.
Senior Program Coordinator and Curriculum Specialist – Quantitative Reasoning and Independent Inquiry Flags

Evangeleen Pattison received her Ph.D. in sociology from The University of Texas at Austin. Her primary research considers the relationship between educational inequality and health disparities throughout the life course. She specializes in population studies, applied statistical modeling, and robustness indices for causal inferences using large-scale survey data. As a graduate student, Evangeleen served as a statistical consultant for the Population Research Center and received numerous honors, including the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. In her current role, she oversees the Quantitative Reasoning and Independent Inquiry Flags, working with staff and faculty to make these concepts available to students across campus—regardless of their field of study.
Brooke Rich, Ph.D.

Brooke Rich received her B.A. in classics and linguistics from the University of Florida, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in classics from The University of Texas at Austin. Her research at The University of Texas at Austin focused on gender, language, and emotions in Latin literature. She joined UGS in 2015 as Flags Petition Coordinator, working with students and advisors to facilitate the flag petition review process. In her current role, Brooke oversees the Flags in Global Cultures, Cultural Diversity in the US, and Ethics, working with staff, faculty, and graduate students across campus on implementation, teaching, and curriculum development in these areas.
Susan Schorn, Ph.D.

Susan “George” Schorn joined the Center for the Skills & Experience Flags in 2008 after seven years coordinating the university’s cross-disciplinary writing program from within the College of Liberal Arts. She has a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a Ph.D. in English literature from The University of Texas at Austin, and has taught literature and writing at the University of Hawaii-Hilo, St. Edward’s University, and UT Austin. Her current research focuses on student writers’ revision processes in response to multi-modal feedback.
